I am fascinated by the potential of technology to create visual illusions, a theme that underpins my current series of photographs. This series was inspired by the vivid memory of three buildings I used to pass on my way to school in China. Unable to physically revisit these places, I reconstructed them from memory using colored paper, which has become a pivotal material in my work.
Continuous lighting is essential in my process, casting shadows that transform flat paper into the illusion of three-dimensional space. The images, once edited, might appear surreal, yet the interplay of light and shadow convincingly suggests that these objects exist in reality. Color plays a transformative role in this series. I experiment with various color combinations to explore their different visual effects and emotional impacts. Since color perception is highly subjective, each viewer's experience of my work is uniquely personal.<
Additionally, some pieces in this series feature random shapes, which I arrange and rearrange to discover new compositions and expressions. Through this playful manipulation of colors and forms, I aim to control and convey my emotions, inviting the audience to connect with the artwork on a deeply personal level.
